The Diamond Cable Swingcoat was the second swingocat design I created, with less texture than the Fan & cable Swing with bobbles. These swingcoat designs rely on a top quality yarn with extra twist, as my Signatur 8ply Australian Wool.
The knitting kit includes the yarn, knitting instructions with both graphed and written stitch pattern. Buttons options relate to buttonband worked.
Sleeve options: The original pattern has a generous armhole depth (cream) and sleeve width of 56cm/22". I have added two new sleeve options into the pattern: The slim sleeve width 46cm/18" (Ruby Red) this will reduce the chest size. The Dolman sleeve works from slim to wide with a sleeve width 50cm/20" and will not reduce the chest as the slim sleeve.
Collars and Buttons: Original design has the round neck (Jacaranda Blue) with Triangle buttons, the buttonhole are worked into the cable band. The Shawl collar shown in Turkish Blue & Ruby has handmade square buttons. The third collar option is a wide shawl collar (Brick Red) this style has the handmade square buttons (not shown on the sample garment).
Note the button bands are knitted as one with the fronts of the garment.

Knitting: The sleeves are knitted first, this allows you to double check your tension and become familiar with the stitch pattern. The Sleeve instruction includes a graph and row by row instructions. The sleeve increases are worked at the seam edge and also adjacent to the cables, this allows the Diamond Pattern to increase cuff to sleeve head. The instructions for the body of the garment are supported by graphs and diagrams to track length and decrease shaping into the fronts and back. Decrease shaping is worked into each panel adjacent to the cable, the Diamond pattern reduces in width/size hem to shoulder as the number of stitches between the cables are decreased.
