Basket Stitch (abbreviation BS) is created with a stitch pattern of st-st (stocking stitch) and R.st-st (reverse st-st), working K15, P15 (30st repeat) - so over 60sts this would be worked twice. Work K15, P15 all rows, work 18 rows to create squares. Row 19 work P15, K15, reversing the placement of the Knit & Purl sts to the last 18 rows.
The easiest was to count rows is by counting the Purl stitch bumps, I like to count 2 rows at a time. To achieve the optimum length commence the fringe before completing the knitting, as given in the pattern instructions as the fringe requires 30g to 50g.
