Knitting Pattern for the Coco Shawl Panel Coal which is knitted in Mitres.
Check out my YouTube video on Mitre Knitting to see how simple these Mitre squares are to knit. Mitres are knitted in two row colour stripes with a decrease over the centre 3sts - Slip 1, Knit 2 together, psso (pass slip stitch over), creating the Chevron and shape of the Mitre. This fabulous technique will build your confidence with picking up stitches, as this is how we join Mitre to Mitre, not sewing them together later. When striping the two colours both yarns are carried row to row.
The Mitre knitting class is included with the knitting kit, the class will be emailed to you, allowing you to explore this technique, whilst the knitting kit is mailed to you.

See webpage Mitres

Materials: Australian Wool 8ply/ DK 22sts and 30 rows to 4"/ 10cm. Quantities MC 500 to 650g; Contrast colour 100g to 150g per colour.

Coco Shawl Collar Coat with optional A line shaping at side seams.
The knitting begins with three panels of Mitres two fronts and one wider back. Stitches are then picked up from the edges of the Mitre panels, by placing markers 4"/10cm apart and picking up 22sts between the markers. These picked up stitches are worked first to the armhole cast off, then body continues to the side seam - this allows you to achieve any chest size, A line shaping may be added into side seam for extra hip ease.

Knitting Pattern: Mitres require a diagram to show the numbered sequence to knit the Mitres, this is supported by written instructions and images.

Sizing: The pattern has five chest sizes, to fit Chest 34" to 47" / 84cm to 120cm.
Length: 26" to 30" / 66cm - 78cm.

Custom Pattern: Any questions regarding this design, techniques, sizes or yarn quantities please contact Jane.

Colourways MC - main colour - when there are 4 contrasts the MC is also used as a contrast. With MC with five colours the MC is not worked into the Mitres.

Colourways apply to knitting kits, but it's nice to see colourways.
Knitting Pattern purchase does not include wool.

Trim: The cuff is knitted in Mitres, the sleeve is then picked up from the edge of the Mitred cuff. The Shawl collar is knitted in CG - Corrugated Garter, 2 rows St-st and 2 rows Reverse St-st and is sew onto the coat, I like to leave the hem edge open to create the appearance of a scarf.

Knitting Kit for this design includes the knitting pattern and all the yarns to complete the garment.
