The Chaffey Jacket Knitting Kit includes the knitting instructions, Australian Wool and 8 handmade buttons or shell buttons to match. This design is knitted in different scales of Woven Basket Stitch, what creates the woven effect is a WS (wrong side Purl row) given depth to the stitch pattern. The side seams each have a cable twist which join when seamed, the front bands are knitted as one with the each front, in corrugated garter 2 rows st-st & 2 rows Reverse st-st. The front hemline has a slight slope created by short rows, all given row by row in the knitting instructions.
The knitting instructions have five chest sizes from 86cm/34" up to 122cm/48cm with a chest ease of 7cm/3" - making largest size 130cm/51".
Small/ Med to fit 86cm/34" to 107cm/42"
Med/Large to fit 1-7cm/42"to 122cm/48"
Details: Back is commenced in two pieces, to create the centre back split, the two halves of the back join and the back is completed in one section. back split is trimmed with two buttons.
Round Neck with collar: The front button bands in Corrugated Garter are knitted as one with the fronts of the garment. The stitches of the band are worked into the collar picking up the back neck stitches to create the collar.
Shawl Collar: Work Corrugated Bands as the round neck, after the shoulder cast off the band continues for half the width of the back neck, a centre back seam joins the two halves of the collar, with the inside edge seamed to the back neck edge.
