The Mitre Vee Capelet Knitting Kit includes 5 to 11 colours of Australian Wool, depending on the colourway chosen. The knitting kit has two price options, with the pattern book value $25 on USB stick or knitting kit without the pattern book. When worn wrapped with the Mitre panel onto the shoulder this Capelet looks like a poncho.
Book: Swing, Swagger, Draper - Knit the Colors of Australia 2009. The book is now available on a USB stick, allowing you to print patterns as you require the pattern. Additional images are included for some of the 30 designs from Jane's book.
Purchase book: $25 for USB - physical book is out of print.
Knitting Mitres: On the home page of my old website you can access my YouTube video which shows garments knitted with Mitres, as well a how to knit Mitres, secure ends and pick up stitches. The Capelet is knitted firstly as the 25 Mitre back square, stitches are picked up from this panel and worked as two front in Basket stitch, resulting in a large Vee shaped Cape/ Capelet. The final Mitres trim the front edges of both fronts.
Colourway options: With 11 colours some colours require 10g others up to 70g within the Mitre Panel. The front bands are often worked in two different colours, I have included images of Tempest, Turkish, Aubergine and Wine. The colours shade from dark to light, except the Currawong, shading runs right to left.
Currawong - 5 colours Cream to Black, on blond model, Front black and second front Tempest.
Peahen - 10 colours from Midnight, Peacock, Khaki to Lilac fronts in Aubergine & Khaki. Main shot.
Blue Jay - 11 colours with both fronts in Turkish Blue, dark haired model.
Rosella - 10 colours with fronts in Claret and Wine with midnight through to pink.
Eagle - 10 colours with fronts in Khaki - image with garment laid flat.
