This design incorporates Short rows, more details below for short rows, short rows create wedges which beautifully showcases these multi-colour yarns. The piece is knitted in two pieces and has a centre back join. Worked in Garter stitch knit all rows. The pattern is given row by row, supported by a diagram and a constant note of stitch count.
Short Rows there are so many variations on short rows, from turning the heel of a sock, to my favourite sloping hemlines. YouTube can really be confusing with German, Japanese and many wonderful variations. This link will take you to my original website and a newsletter with images and instructions for this design.
The important knowledge for the Wave Wrap short row is that it is a two step process. Firstly a short row is a incomplete row, turning knitting without completing the row. Before turning the last stitch is slipped and 'wrapped', this wrap sits at the base of the slipped stitch and will be worked as the second step later. So, the first row is the short/ incomplete row, turn the knitting and work the second row to the last stitch, M1 (make 1 stitch = increase), K the last stitch of the row.
The unworked (or out of action stitches) are eventually knitted lifting the wrap at the base of the stitch and knitting it with the stitch, the wrap will keep the knitting even and prevent holes.
